Make personal data request

Right of Access

Subject to the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. You have the right to request a copy of your personal data which is processed by Fiosrú.

In order for us to process your data subject access request, you will need to include proof of identification as outlined below:

Proof of Identity 

Acceptable forms of identification for a garda member, include:

  • Garda identification
  • Garda Registration Number; and
  • A list of Garda Stations which you have served in.

We will only be able to start processing your request once we receive this information.

Response

Responses to data subject access requests will be issued within one month unless an extension is required. If an extension is required, this will be communicated to you. We will send our response to you via secure email or post, whichever manner is preferable.

Exceptions to your right of access

In some instances, your right to access your personal information is restricted. For example:

  • If the information is kept for the purpose of preventing, detecting or investigating criminal offences, where allowing the right of access would be likely to impede such activities.
  • If the information would be subject to legal professional privilege in court.
  • If the information consists of an opinion about you given in confidence by another person (subject to certain conditions).

Third party information 

Fiosrú may restrict access to certain documents containing your personal data, if it would result in disclosing data about another person, unless that person has consented to the disclosure. So, if we have a record that contains your personal data as well as another person’s data, unless we have permission from the other person, we may be limited in what data we can give you. We will give you as much of the information as we can, without identifying the other person.
