GSOC Witness appeal: Road Traffic Collision

Road Traffic Collision on R513 at Ballylanders, Co. Limerick – Saturday 26 October 2024

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has appealed for witnesses to a road traffic collision it is currently investigating.

The road traffic collision occurred on the R513 at Ballylanders, Co. Limerick at approximately 15.00 on Saturday 26 October 2024 between a grey Toyota Auris car and a bus.

A Garda Superintendent referred the matter to GSOC in accordance with section 102 (1) of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005. The incident is now under investigation by GSOC.

GSOC would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the road traffic collision or saw the grey Toyota Auris car driving in the area prior to the collision, or who may have captured it on CCTV, dashcams and/or on a mobile device.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) received a referral from An Garda Síochána on 26 October 2024 relating to an road traffic collision at the Ballylanders, Co. Limerick on the afternoon of Saturday 26 October 2024.

The referral was made by a Garda Superintendent under section 102(1) of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005. The matter is now under investigation by GSOC further to section 98 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005. As the matter is under investigation, GSOC will be making no further comment at this time.

Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005, provides for independent investigation of any matter that appears to indicate that the conduct of a member of the Garda Síochána may have resulted in the death of, or serious harm to, a person.
