Recruitment of Deputy Police Ombudsman

Police Ombudsman designate, Emily Logan, has welcomed the launch of the open recruitment competition for the first Deputy Police Ombudsman of Fiosrú, Oifig an Ombudsman Póilíneachta

Fiosrú is to be formally established under Part 5 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety (PSCS) Act 2024. The Act was signed into law by the President on 7 February 2024 and will be commenced shortly.

On commencement, one of the major reforms of the Policing, Security and Community Safety (PSCS) Act, 2024, is for the current three-person Commission model to be replaced by a single head of the organisation, the Police Ombudsman, who will be supported by a Deputy Police Ombudsman and a Chief Executive Officer.

Commenting today, Emily Logan said:

“This final phase of open competition for the new leadership represents an important step in our organisational transition from GSOC to Fiosrú – Office of the Police Ombudsman.”
