Duration of cases
Under the current legislation, there are five different ways cases can be dealt with by GSOC. We calculate how long it took us to close three of the most common types of cases (by number of days), in each quarter. This is to help us focus on maintaining efficiency in dealing with complaints.
We use ‘median’ for this calculation because ‘average’ can be skewed by one very long-running, or very short, case. The median figure gives us a better ‘typical’ number of days it takes to close a case. Yearly & quarterly figures for previous years are available through the Archive on the right.
